We held a festive opening day where we had an introductory unit, after which the students received extensive background – technical, academic, and historical – on the field of data compression from the founder and CEO of Asparna Etamar Laron.

In the next unit, The students learned the framework of the practical experience program from Or Gavish, coordinator of student experience and internships programs at Asparna. After that, the students began to understand the various projects of the squads with an emphasis on the research aspect with the director of the content of the practical experience, the head of the research department at Filo Systems, Dr. Eva Mishor.

After a pampering lunch, the students began independent primary research of the squads in the last part of the day. We wish success to all partners and students in the student experience program!

Within the partnership for internships between the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology and Asparna venture studios, 15 students began their internship on proving aspects in data compression computer and data sciences. After this program, Filo Systems is expected to hire interns as employees.

From an applicant pool of more than 250 companies, 10 startups were selected to participate in the 12-week program. The companies in this cohort have an average of $6.4M in funding.

We are excited to see Asparna’s 1st project to enter commercial stage, this time as a separate company – Filo Systems. “The market potential for extracting further networking and storage from data centers and the potential cost savings for Filo Systems are colossal”, explained co-founder Dr. Ofer Markman, “we are building Filo to enable customers worldwide, most likely from Europe”.
